Millwright - Saskatoon, SK

Expocrete Concrete Products Ltd. has an immediate opening for a 433A Certified MILLWRIGHT to become a member of our production team in Saskatoon, SK. Our facility manufactures a variety of concrete products for our customers. The ideal candidate will possess the following:

SKILLS:

  • read diagrams and schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedures
  • operate rigging equipment and dollies to place heavy machinery and parts
  • fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances
  • align and test equipment, and make any necessary adjustments
  • perform predictive and operational maintenance using procedures such as vibration analysis, and repair or replace defective parts when necessary
  • service and repair hydraulic, pneumatic and programmable logic controls
  • may do some tack welding and fabrication as well as maintain an inventory of replacement parts

ABILITIES:

  • 3-5 years of experience , preferably in an industrial or mechanical environment
  • mechanical ability, strength and manual dexterity
  • the ability to work at heights and to lift between 11 and 25 kilograms
  • the willingness to complete a variety of work assignments, some of which may or may not be related to the trade
  • Ability to work shift work
  • good communication and reading skills

Accounts Receivable Clerk - Edmonton AB

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for full cycle Accounts Receivable and developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendor and staff.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Receipt of, posting, balancing and reconciliation of Customer accounts, Petty Cash, Credit Card and
  • Debit accounts/transactions
  • Compile various reports (sales/orders/customer status/inter-company pallet) and communicate information to all parties affected or requesting the information
  • Handling and reconciliation of accounts (customer and bank); invoicing and provision of invoice copies and statements as required, whether request was generated by customer or internally
  • Maintenance of A/R accounts, including collection of over-due accounts and 3rd party collection arrangements
  • Provide credit applications to customers and review; forward for approval; allow or deny limits
  • Complete monthly/quarterly rebates to Big Box, buying Groups and other customers as required
  • Communicate to ensure processes & procedures are followed consistently within all divisions
  • May track progress of specific product/project and final invoicing, ensuring certificates of completion and Legal clearances are in order

Abilities:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Accounting Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Minimum of 1 – 3 years experience in Accounts Receivable
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and Great Plains will be considered a strong asset

Plant Supervisor – Edmonton, Alberta

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Plant Supervisor is responsible for supervising all aspects of a multi product manufacturing operation with both drycast and wetcast concrete building products to ensure cost-effective production, plant operations, maintenance and administration are in order, to ensure the plant is managed in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities include:

Product and Quality Control:

  • Ensuring the accuracy of product specification;
  • Checking the suitability and quality of materials and all related operations during the production process through to the final quality check and dispatch;
  • Review and make recommendations for the efficient operation of each area under supervision;
  • Work across the production cycle to ensure the flow of work meets customer deadlines;
  • Allocate and oversee the work of the production team in order to meet operational deadlines and/or cover for absences;
  • Maintain stocks of materials and consumables and their appropriate storage as required. Ensure cost effective use of such materials in production process;
  • In collaboration with Manager, Operations input and maintain accurate cost information (hourly rates, materials, etc.) into the management information system ensuring it is up to date; and
  • Provide information, analysis and reporting on a regular and ad-hoc basis;

Human Resources:

  • Recruit or assist in the recruitment of new employees;
  • Work closely with the Manager, Operations to produce and review individual/team performance;
  • In conjunction with the Manager, Operations prepares efficient and workable rosters for production and/or yard staff;
  • Coordination and supervision of staff training;
  • Manage staff leave (including vacations) and working arrangements to ensure sufficient staffing levels for forecasted production targets;
  • Reviews and approves timecards for payroll;
  • Oversees and mentors the production unit by providing leadership through the use of best practices in recruitment, retention, employee development, job enrichment/assignment initiatives and may assist in departmental succession planning; and
  • Also coaches employees by providing performance & absenteeism improvement plans; training & development opportunities; and creating an environment of positive employee relations.

Maintenance:

  • Ensure all production equipment in maintained and serviced in a proper, timely manner; and
  • Mandates good housekeeping practices to maintain optimum performance of machinery and plant.

Safety:

  • Cultivate and develop opportunities to incorporate safe work practices into daily working routine; assist others in identifying and adhering to established safety procedures; be mindful of potential safety issues and report them immediately to a direct supervisor;
  • Ensure all new employees receive appropriate orientation; training and Personal Protective
  • Equipment;
  • Ensure employee compliance with all company policies and procedures to create a safe work environment for all staff, visitors and the general public;
  • Provide ongoing and re-training of employees as and where necessary;
  • Ensure all work is performed in a safe manner and maintain safety records as necessary;
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and regular risk assessments with appropriate follow up;
  • Ensures compliance by documenting all incidents, accidents, near misses, WCB claims and injuries as required by various governing agencies and internal
  • Environment, Health & Safety Manager; and
  • Communicates regularly with the Group Health & Safety Manager to promote best practices within the Company.

Abilities:

  • Previous knowledge of production equipment is a desirable asset;
  • Basic knowledge of wetcast/drycast and precast concrete production processes;
  • Good mechanical and Electrical skills;
  • Excellent leadership and team building skills;
  • Proficient use of basic computer software such as
  • Microsoft Office Products, Internet, Email;
  • Minimum high school Diploma, although Post
  • Secondary education in the Engineering field or as a Skilled Tradesperson would be a definite asset;
  • Three to five years experience in a management or supervisory position;
  • Proven time management, planning and scheduling skills; and

Key Responsibilities Include:

Safety

  • Cultivate and develop opportunities to incorporate safe work practices into daily working routine; assist others in identifying and adhering to established safety procedures; be mindful of potential safety issues and report them immediately to a Supervisor,
  • Safety Committee member or Group Health and Safety Manager
  • Initiate safety concerns and makes judgment on the best methods of completing tasks

Repair & Maintenance

  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, repair and maintenance requisitions and scheduled work

Supervisory

  • Manage and supervise repair & maintenance staff, and ensure that all requisite tasks are handled quickly and efficiently within budget restraints
    Coordinate and monitor contractor activities for projects

Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of wetcast/drycast and precast concrete production processes will be considered a strong asset
  • Good Mechanical and Electrical skills

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop systems and processes to monitor and proactively report facility H&S performance and other metrics
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a standardized Employee Orientation Program across all facilities
  • Research various Health & Safety best practices and incorporate into our Health & Safety program in collaboration with the Group Health & Safety Manager
  • Conduct an in-depth review of the Health & Safety programs currently in place, making recommendations on assimilating both programs into one enterprise-wide program.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures across a multiple site, geographically dispersed territory

Abilities:

  • Relevant environmental and/or safety work experience is preferred
  • Above average policy development / policy writing skills are necessary
  • Possesses, or working towards an industry-recognized designation such as CRSP, CSP, NCSO is considered an asset
  • Competence in federal, provincial and local EH&S regulations
