Expocrete Concrete Products Ltd announced the acquisition of a new Hess RH 760 at its facility in Richmond B.C which will increase capacity to the Pacific Northwest market.

NEWS RELEASE

Edmonton – April 20, 2012

Expocrete Concrete Products Ltd today announced the acquisition of a new Hess RH 760 at its facility in Richmond B.C which will increase capacity to the Pacific Northwest market. The machine is capable of producing concrete shapes of the highest strength, quality and performance.

“Expocrete is very pleased to announce the expansion of our business in the Pacific Northwest, a geography that prides itself on having one of the best business climates in the nation. Our new Hess RH 760 is a sound investment that will serve Expocrete, our customers and the people of the Pacific Northwest well into the future and is aligned with our vision that, together we create, inspire and deliver innovative sustainable concrete solutions to bring our customers vision to reality”, David Johnson, Expocrete President and CEO said.

Expocrete engineers’ note the new addition will improve retaining wall modules freeze-thaw durability through a higher rate of air void elimination. Control of unit height, from 30-mm minimum to 330-mm maximum, on the RH 760 is credited to Hess MVA technology, which also allows side release molds to be used with better results. In addition to paving stone and retaining wall block, the model’s vibration technology suits standard cast stone shapes. The RH 760 is likewise set up for face mix unit production, another innovation used by Expocrete to add value to our diverse product offering.

The new production unit will increase the site’s production capacity, enabling Expocrete to expand its customer base while further supporting growth and economic development in the Pacific Northwest.

About Expocrete:

With its diverse product range the company custom manufactures paving stones, stack stones, retaining walls, concrete slabs, cornerstones, concrete drainage pipe, precast manholes, hollow core flooring, wet cast products, specialty precast.
The TFDL (Taylor Family Digital Library) is at the heart of the campus and is one of the most modern and recognizable buildings at the University of Calgary.

The TFDL (Taylor Family Digital Library) is one of the most modern and recognizable buildings on the University of Calgary campus.

The TFDL is in the heart of activity, sharing roadways and pedestrian walkways with several existing buildings on campus. The new roadways and pedestrian walkways all share in the theme and overall style in which the TFDL was constructed and cover over 10,000 square meters of the campus surface. To reflect the design of the TFDL in the roadways and walkways and meet the challenges of functionality, durability, maintenance and affordability, the VS 5TM Road Paver was chosen.

The VS 5TM Road Paver used for the TFDL project was manufactured at the Expocrete plant located in Balzac, Alberta and used the new Kolor- scapes process that places the color in the top 10% of the paving stone. This process creates a more vibrant color and a smoother surface finish. This Kolorscapes process also allowed for white cement to be used to achieve the SRI (Solar Reflective Index) rating. The white paving stones used account for approximately 55% of the entire surface area and will help achieve the LEED SScr7.1(non-roof Heat Island) credit.

The superior interlock of the VS 5TM Road Paver has exceptional load stability and withstands heavier loads from garbage trucks, delivery trucks and maintenance vehicles. The paving stone phase of the TFDL project began June 2010 and was completed in October 2010.
